Lake Country Quilt Guild

Traditional to Contemporary to Modern

Trunk show and lecture covering several major genres of quilt making since the resurgence in the 1960's when sewists rediscovered the delight of American patchwork tradition. Modern day quilting really took off in the the 1970s and has continued to expand into a nearly $4 billion annual business. The largest quilting event takes place in Houston at the International Quilt Association's Festival of Quilts with 60,000 attendees. Quilts will be shown representing tradition, contemporary, art, and modern. The modern movement is the latest great influence in quilt making with its emphasis on quilts intended to be functional and inspired by the modern world.
